Uruguay Increases Recreational Cannabis THC Limit
Uruguay’s Cannabis Legalization a Success!
As the first country in the world to legalize recreational marijuana, Uruguay has progressed and impressed in just five months with it’s liberal cannabis policies.
Uruguay’s ambitious plan allows individuals and clubs to grow cannabis and pharmacies to sell to the 16,000 currently registered users. The government even sponsors a limited number of huge grows that sell to the pharmacies at regulated prices. The goal is to undermine the black market by producing better quality at a lower price.
Uruguayans can either grow it themselves, or join one of 70 clubs that grows and distributes up to 40 grams a month to members, or purchase thru a designated pharmacy. And it’s all legal, for Uruguay residents only.
The government is planning to reach out to rural areas so they too can purchase cannabis containing 9% THC (just upped from 2%!), in 5 gram packets, next to chocolates and cookies at kiosks.
As Uruguayans mellow out to the sweet scent of marijuana, their small country’s actions will stoke the fires of legalization around the world.
