Mother Lode Gardens 2015

Most of my plants appear to be in perfect health.
For some people the hardest part is leaving the plants alone to do their thing. I just want to step my game up a little this year, hence the soil tests. I want to correct the deficiencies shown in my soil analysis by using foliar products like the albion calcium. Don’t want any elemental deficiencies holding my plants back from their full potential.
Last year we achieved out best yields with just plain water, but I could still see where improvements could be made in plant health, vigor, support, etc.
Bodhi Afkansastan x Snow Lotus testers
This is the most vigorous strain in the garden so far. they are stout bushy plants, pointy semi-broad leaves that stick straight up on most of them, although there is one that is taller and lankier with long fingery leaves.
I am really excited to see how these turn out. I have heard the Afkansastan cut is just as good as Bubba so I passed up the Tiger’s Milk and Jabba’s Stash in favor of these testers because I’ve had Bubba for years and would love to find another broad-leaf that can compete. There are six females in two pots triple-planted.
Below at left: This natural ground cover is growing nicely… this is growing on top of my soil , I assume that’s a good thing. Center: June 16 2015 -The plants are blowing up, I think they look 2x bigger than yesterday. Nice to have all healthy plants . I think I made good choices with soil and genetics. 14hrs of direct central Cali sunlight doesn’t hurt either! Below at right is an Afkansastan x Snow Lotus, pointing her leaves straight up toward the sky to catch all the early morning sunlight coming in at a low angle.
Below: Afkansastan x Snow Lotus, really tight inter-node spacing on this plant, must be the Afkansastan influence.

Ancient OG: This strain must really love my climate, it stretches forever. Last year we had two Ancient OG’s , one was 10 lbs the other was 12lbs. This year I also have two Ancients, so maybe I can beat that.

I’ve been watering about 60 gallons per pot every two days, maybe a little more. I would step it up to every day but the top of the soil is still moist after the first day and I really don’t want to over-water. The garden is definitely better than last year most of the plants look great. Unfortunately, a few still worry me. Lab tests were sent in, but they haven’t contacted me yet. I might send in a couple more branches today from different plants. Regardless, they are entering the flowering phase, so I should know soon whether we are dealing with any serious issues. Lots of healthy white hairs and visible trichs so that’s always a good sign.
There’s still lots of room for improvement, I really think 2016 will be better.
